Sox Continue Their Shutout Ways

August 13 vs. Kansas City Royals

"These ain't your daddy's White Sox... We're going to keep going after a championship as aggressively as we can."

KW's Hole Cards:
Kings
Griffey seems to be a bit more comfortable in a Sox uniform.

Short Take:   Buehrle recovers from the last time he faced the Royals, going seven strong shutout innings in tonight's winner!

For the second night in a row, the Sox pitching staff shutout a Royal team that scored 25 runs against Sox pitching just two weekends ago. Mark Buerhle followed up a nice outing against the Red Sox over the weekend to a brilliant showing tonight. Buehrle had some help behind him in his seven innings of shutout, five hit ball.

The Sox gave Buehrle the support he needed tonight in the first inning. Jermaine Dye doubled to center field scoring Orlando Cabrera making it a 1-0 Sox lead. Three batters later, Ken Griffey Jr. put the Sox up 2-0 with a RBI single.

It should be noted that...gasp...the Sox scored all four runs tonight without the long ball. In the fifth, the "small ball" way scored a run off a A.J. Pierzynski ground out making it a 3-0 Sox lead. Paul Konerko capped off the scoring in the eighth with a RBI single making it 4-0 Sox.

Bobby Jenks pitched a harmless ninth inning keeping the Sox slim lead in the A.L. Central with their 67th win. Tomorrow, Lance Broadway makes his 2008 debut when the Sox look to sweep the K.C. Royals in the final home meeting against the Royals. Game time is 1:05pm. If you can't make the game, it will be televised on Comcast SportsNet.

WSI's
Quest For the Final Table Update:
A very productive night highlighted by Buehrle's pitching and a work-man like approch to scoring runs.
