Sox Keep Trotting

June 18 vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

"These ain't your daddy's White Sox... We're going to keep going after a championship as aggressively as we can."

KW's Hole Cards:
Aces!
Buehrle coming along, top & bottom of the order producing for our silent middle.

Short Take: Buehrle cruises while Sox bats stay hot.

Mark Buehrle was stellar again tonight. He followed up his screw job from last week were the Sox bats were in their sleepy time mode providing only one run to work with against the powerful Tiger lineup. Tonight, Buehrle got all the support he needed in the Sox 8-2 win.

The party started in the second inning where Toby Hall hit is first home run of the season, a two run bomb that put the Sox up 2-0. In the fifth inning, The Carlos Quentin hit a solo home run to give Buehrle and company a 3-0 advantage.

While the Sox offense seemed poised for another big night off Pirates starter and native South Sider Tom Gorzelanny, Buerhle didn't give up a hit until Jose Bautista took him deep in the sixth inning to cut the Sox lead to 3-1.

From there, the Sox opened a can. Brian Anderson hit a solo shot in the bottom half of the sixth making it 4-1. The Sox then scored three times in the seventh on a bloop single off the bat of Jim Thome and a Nick Swisher two run double.

With the win, the Sox pick up their 40th win of the year upping their record to 40-31. Tomorrow, Gavin Floyd and the rest of the first place Sox go for the sweep. Game time is 1:05pm and can be seen at 35th & Shields or Comcast Sports Net.
