Contreras' First Brain Fart

June 10 at Detroit Pussy Cats

"These ain't your daddy's White Sox... We're going to keep going after a championship as aggressively as we can."

KW's Hole Cards:
Flat Tire
Someone Jacked our timely offense out of here, and we could only score 4 runs, putting a hault on our plans for a longer winning streak.

Short Take:Jose Contreras has his first brain fart of the season in a losing effort at Comerica Park.

Good things come to an end in most cases. That wouldn't be any different tonight, as Jose Contreras had his first rough outing of the season, and our Sox had their 7-game winning streak snappend on the onset of a brief 3-game shin-dig in Detroit, losing 6-4.

Our summertime heros got on the board pretty early, as Jim Thome hit a solo round-tripper in the 2nd, while in the 3rd the Cuban Missle (Alexei Ramirez) walked, played a little Ozzieball, and scored on a single by AJ Pierzynski, putting the Palehose up 2-0 to conclude the first 1/3 of this game.

From the 4th through 7th frames, the Tigers dented the scoreboard. In the 4th, Jeff Larish doubled in Miguel Cabrera. The 5th was the worst of them all, as a crooked number went up on the board. Brent Clevlen and Curtis Granderson reached base safely to start things off, and Placido Polanco got the first guy in on a fielding error by Nick Swisher. Before the conclusion of the frame, Cabrera plated both Granderson and Polanco on a single, giving the Tigers a 4-2 lead.

After the Tigers added an extra run the next inning, our Sox loaded the bases with only one out (Thome, Swisher, and Joe Crede) for Ramirez, who hit into a fielder's choice, plating Thome in the process; however, the run would be given right back when the Tigers came to bat, as Polanco scored another run on a shot by Magglio Ordonez off Crede.

Our Sox had some opportunities to cash in during the last couple of frames; but, all they could muster was a single run in the 8th, as Pierzynski started out with a double to "No Man's Land" in center field, was "first-and-thirded" by TCQ, and balked in by Freddy Dolsi. Unfortunately, they couldn't pull any closer. Our Sox will start a new winning streak tomorrow, as Javier Vazquez tows the rubber with the struggling Justin Verlander, same time, same place, different channel (WCIU).

The Silver Lining: The Twins lost again, meaning we still maintained our nice 6.5 game divisional lead. We're still in business!

Quest For the Final Table Update:
Someone stole our Ace and replaced it with a Joker. Not very funny; but, we'll recover as usual!
