WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

Was Anyone Seriously Expecting a Sweep?

Sept. 23th vs Minnesota Twins

Back to the Grind,
or Just Grinded?

Today's Sox cut of meat:
Dead Duck
Pathetic performance. Again.

Short Take: Stuck: Only a few games left!

It’s Sunday. We won the first two. So of course we were going to lose this one. Final Score 7-1, wrong way. And just for spite, I will not be mentioning any Twins player by name in this recap. Unless one of them crashes into a wall or something.

First inning, we got off to our usual brilliant start—three up, three down. Gavin Floyd promptly walked the first batter, but got the next three. Top of two, Paulie fouled out, but Jermaine Dye doubled. Pods struck out looking, but Juan Uribe drove in JD. We led by one, but in the bottom of the frame, some guy nobody ever heard of hit his first career home run. Why does this always seem to happen to us? End of two, knotted at one. Nothing much happened in the third, fourth, fifth, but in the top of the sixth, the Sox started the inning off by going three up, three down. Bottom of sixth, hit, strikeout and stolen base, hit, walk, hit, flyout, hit, flyout. Bottom line: after six, Twinkies 4, Sox 1.

In the seventh, no more damage was done—at least not by the Sox. The Twins? Hit, hit, groundout, intentional walk, unintentional walk, hit, strikeout, groundout. Bottom line: after six, Twinkies 7, Sox 1.

For the sake of those few masochists who are still reading this, let’s continue. Top eight: we didn’t score. Bottom eight: they didn’t score. Top of nine: they brought in their closer; heaven alone knows why. Based on their announcers' endless kissing-up, I’m kind of surprised they didn’t bring in their center fielder to pitch the ninth, after which they could have retired his number and possibly renamed the team—what the hell, why not the entire city?—after him. But I digress, final score Twins 7, Sox 1.

Bright side? Sox don’t have to play again until Tuesday, when the battle for last place and this miserable season continue.

Back to the Grind Update:
The only thing being grinded was Sox fans' ulcers.
