WSI News - Totally Biased Game Recaps

August 22 vs. Kansas City Royals

Back to the Grind,
or Just Grinded?

Today's Sox cut of meat:
Veal for Stew
Some nice individual pieces to the team, on a whole, not very good.

Short Take:   5 1/2 weeks left...

Jose Contreras has a dream job. All he has to do is show up. While this afternoon's outing wasn't as bad as past ones, Contreras gave up four runs in the first two innings before calming down the "powerful" Royal bats.

Even more pathetic was five of the seven runs by the Royals were served up with two outs. Mike Myers added to the fire when he came on in relief in the seventh inning serving up a two run homer to Billy Buter. Josh Fields made the game a tad interesting in the ninth. He connected for his 15th long one of the season, a three run shot, making it 7-6 Royal lead with two outs. Jim Thome followed it up with a single, but, Paul Konerko struck out swinging to end the game.

With the loss, the Sox are now tied for last place again with the Royals from Kansas City with a record of 56-70. Belch! Starting tomorrow, annoying Red Sox fans will be invading our park and act like its their own for a four game series against the A.L. East leading Boston Red Sox. Tomorrow should be fun, Josh Beckett and John Danks will be starting for their respective teams. I wonder who will come out on top. *rollseyes*

Back to the Grind Update:
No grinding for a last place team.
