July 27 vs. Toronto Blue Jays

Back to the Grind,
or Just Grinded?

Today's Sox cut of meat:
Pork Loin
Nothing flashy, but seasoned with just enough offense and pitching

Short Take:Jermaine Dye starts our Sox off on the right foot, while Juan Uribe's stick completes the mini-comeback, as our beloved were able to hold off Toronto 4-3 on a humid Friday night.

Welcome back, Frank! Sox fans proved once again that they are among the most classy fans in baseball tonight in giving the Big Hurt a grand welcoming, much like we did last year at Core of the Core when he visited the South Side with Oakland. Fortunately, he wasn't overly harsh on Jon Garland tonight, as our beloved were able to eke out a nice 4-3 victory on a humid Fireworks Friday night in front of 34,590 Sox fans.

The 2005 World Series MVP started things off on the right foot by blasting his 17th homer to give the Good Guys a fairly quick 1-0 lead. All was right on the South Side at that moment...until the fourth stanza, where Toronto would do all of their scoring with three straight batters. The Big Hurt doubled in Alex Rios and scored on a single by Aaron Hill. Matt Stairs would complete Toronto's scoring by singling in Hill. After four completed innings, it was 3-1 Toronto--our Sox needing a comeback.

Come back they did! In the bottom of the next inning, Alex Cintron hit a beautiful Duck Snort to left that even Juan Uribe could score on! When a play like that happens, you know that the Baseball Gods are on your side that game. Uribe got into the scoring the next frame as well, knocking in two Ducks on the Pond (AJ Pierzynski and Josh Fields).

For tonight's scoring, that's all folks! The bullpen, including Bobby Jenks had no trouble in closing this one up, giving Garland his eighth win of the season. Tomorrow night, our newest Sox father Mark Buehrle will attempt to knot the season series with the Blue Jays, as he'll be matched up with Roy Halladay. Gametime is at 6:05 in the evening and can be seen on WGN. GO SOX!
