Lost: Seattle

May 2 at Seattle Mariners

Back to the Grind,
or Just Grinded?

Today's Sox cut of meat:
Tainted Cat Food
Enough can make you sick.

Short Take:   Two solo shots aren't enough to down Mariners (Who knew?) as John Danks takes another hard loss.

There's a new show on TV, you may have seen it. It's about a Major League Baseball team that is lost whenever they take the field for the first pitch of a game. They can't hit and leave their pitchers out to dry. It's not a pretty sight.

All kidding aside, this Sox team is getting past frustrating to watch now. This afternoon the Sox dropped their fourth straight game in a 3-2 loss where the Sox bats were again silent while making Seattle starter Miguel Batista look like the savior for Seattle.

The Sox jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a solo shot by Jermaine Dye but John Danks gave it right back in the bottom of the second when Jose Guillen launched a solo shot to tie the game up.

Paul Konerko showed some signs of heating up when he hit a solo home run to right field to give the Sox a 2-1 lead in the fourth. Danks took that lead into the sixth inning, but with two outs Jose Vidro singled and then scored when Raul Ibanez doubled down the left field line. Rob Mackowiak overran the ball thinking it was going to travel all the way down the line, but, it hit off the side wall making Vidro score easily to tie the game. Yuniesky Bentancourt untied the game in the seventh with a solo home run off Danks putting the Sox in a 3-2 hole.

The Sox would not amount any sort of comeback in the final two innings and continued to look pathetic in their efforts. The biggest loser in all of this is John Danks who has pitched soildly every outing and only has a 0-4 record to show for it.

The Sox have another offday tomorrow before traveling to Anaheim to play the Angels...again. Jose Contreras will try to get the Sox back to .500 when he gets the start against Kelvim Escobar. Gametime is at 9:05pm and the game is televised on WGN.

WSI's
Back to the Grind Update:
No grinding today or yesterday or for a while really.
