April 27th vs. Los Angeles Angels

Back to the Grind,
or Just Grinded?

Today's Sox cut of meat:
Salisbury Steak
A balanced offensive attack seasoned this steak just perfectly for this meal.

Short Take:Jose Contreras throws a decent game, and the Sox offense gives a balanced attack, as Chicago's only baseball team secures a victory on a mildly chilly evening in the greatest city in the world.

After having a one-day siesta from playing baseball due to inclement weather, and thankfully so, our Beloved Palehose were set to take on the Los Angeles Angels with a real lineup in tact, as well as the studly Jose Contreras on the bump. Those Sox sure put what happened a couple days ago behind them, cruising to a nice 7-3 victory behind a balanced offensive attack as the game progressed. Take that, Los Angeles! You'll continue losing more than just Olympic bids to us!

Our heros definitely started things off on the right foot, as Jermaine Dye and AJ Pierzynski went back-to-back in the bottom of the fourth frame. Another run would be added to the total in the next inning, when Paulie Walnuts lined a double off the left field wall, scoring Darin Erstad.

The three-run cushion, however, was quite short-lived, as the Halos got them all back in the sixth stanza. Orlando Cabrera scored on a single by Garret Anderson, followed by a two-run blast by Casey Kotchman.

Fortunately, that would be all she would write in terms of the tape for the Halos. The Sox would continue to over double their run total the next three innings. Erstad got an RBI double to deep right center, scoring Juan Uribe all the way from first. The 2005 World Series MVP would follow the next inning with his second solo-shot of the night. The scoring closed in the final at-bat for the Beloved in a heart-stopping play, as Tadahito Iguchi was hit in the head on a relay throw when he tripled both Uribe and Erstad in. Fortunately for the White Sox Army, Gooch got up and was okay, receiving a standing ovation from the just over 30,000 fans that braved the modestly chilly 45-degree game temperature. And, what a great crowd there was tonight that was constantly in this game from the first pitch, to the last out of this one, to the jubilation over finding out our Bulls pulled to within one game of sweeping Miami in the NBA playoffs. What a nice day for Chicago!

Our Beloved look to guarantee a series win tomorrow night, as they send out Jon Garland to face Jered Weaver. Look to reserve three hours of your evening, starting at 6:05 Chicago time. If you're unable to attend the game at MLB's best ballpark, fear not, for it will be on WGN.

WSI's
Back to the Grind Update:
Tadahito Iguchi truly took one for the team tonight when he was hit in the head by a relay throw in the 8th inning. Gooch tripled in that at-bat, knocking in a couple runs in the process.

Jermaine Dye

It's kind of hard not to go with a guy who hits two homers in a game. An honorable mention goes out to Tony, who was seen in the Fundamental's Deck having fun with Southpaw.
