Contreras Dazzles

April 29th at Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

How was the trophy defended today?
Jose Contreras pitched the Angels to their death!

Short Take: Jose Contreras brings his A-game once again, as he uses the same tricks that helped him close out last year's ALCS, ultimately frustrating the Angels to their death!

Last night, an Angel fan was seen being escorted out by a security guard for holding up a sign that read: SOX CHEAT! It looks like those people out there in Southern California are still bitter about last year's ALCS, even though they were clearly beaten by the better team! Such bitterness from those opposing fans makes beating them all the more fun. Close games are what the Palehose lived on all last year. With Jose Contreras on the mound, there was no stopping our DEFENDING WORLD SERIES CHAMPION Chicago White Sox in delivering yet another set-back to the Halos of wherever-the-heck-they-wanna-say-they're-from by the score of 2-1.

No scoring occurred until the top of the fourth inning, when ALDS Game 2 hero Tadahito Iguchi led off with a single. ALCS MVP Paul Konerko walked, setting up World Series MVP Jermaine Dye for an RBI single, which scored Iguchi. Our beloved Palehose added to their lead a couple frames later, as Jim Thome hit his 10th home run of the season to give us a 2-0 lead. Thome happens to have hit the double-digit home run total faster than anyone to wear the beloved Sox uniform, according to the great Hawk Harrelson. What an amazing feat, considering this is his first season here!

In the bottom of that same inning, the man who can't even pronounce his own first name (that's Chone Figgens) walked, stole second base, and scored on a double by Orlando Cabrera. The run would be the only one the Angels would score all night long, as Jose Contreras continued to frustrate Angel hitters, much like he did during last year's ALCS clincher, until there were two outs needed to close the game out. Matt Thornton and Bobby Jenks each recorded an out to sink the Angels' ship. Once again, the Halos must bow down to our Sox!

For the first time since 1994, our beloved White Sox have been given the opportunity to sweep the Angels at Edison Field. Our Sox also look to win games against pitchers whose last name is Santana in back-to-back weekends. Jon Garland will face off against Ervin Santana to close out this series. The game will be played at 2:35 pm Chicago time and can be seen on Comcast Sports Net Chicago. For those unable to watch on television, Chris Singleton and Ed Farmer will have the call on WSCR (AM 670).

WSI's
Ozzieball Update:
Not present tonight; but, our pitching came out big making this aspect of the game not needed.
