Nothing Lacking

ALCS Game 3: Oct. 14 at Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim

Sox Magic Number:
"Two more wins get us to the promise land! Next game: Tomorrow, 7pm"

Short Take:  Jon Garland is terrific with his Game 3 start. Sox come up big with the 5-2 win to take a 2-1 ALCS series lead!

There was nothing questionable about tonights win. You couldn't have asked for a better outing from Garland tonight. He came up big in his home town basically shutting down the Angels offense and the Sox bats did their part making John Lackey look dumbfounded all night... which is a look Lackey specializes in.

Our Sox were in complete control all night and the party started in the first inning. Scott Podsednik led off with a single and advanced to second on a sac bunt by Tadahito Iguchi. Jermaine Dye drove in Podsednik with a RBI-double to make it 1-0 Sox. Paul Konerko came up next and smacked a hanging breaking ball into the seats in left field to make it a quick 3-0 lead.

The Sox added another run to make it 4-0 in the fourth. Iguchi and Dye got on base to start the inning off and Carl Everett drove in Iguchi with a RBI single. The fifth inning put our Pale Hose up 5-0 with a RBI double by Konerko scoring Iguchi who doubled eariler in the inning.

While the Angel fans were booing every "foul" call that Doug Eddings called, Garland was making the Angel hitters not being able to give their fans anything to cheer about. In his first postseason start, Garland went the full nine innings while only giving up four hits, two runs, and striking out seven. Jon retired the Angels in order from the first inning through the fifth. The two runs that the Angels got were attached to a two run home run by Orlando Cabera in the sixth inning.

Game 4 is just a short time away. Freddy Garcia will look to put the South Siders one win away from the World Series. The Sox will have to go through Ervin Santana tomorrow night at a 7:15pm start. The game, as you already know, will be televised on FOX.

Ozzieball Update:
A sac bunt, timely hits, and a big blow by Konerko behind a dominating Jon Garland ships this game to the history books!
