Pile On!

July 19 vs. Tigers

"Uribe with a productive out, Jenks impressed out of the pen."

Short Take:  Jeremy Bondermen bodyslams the Sox in this 7-1 loss.

After the fireworks last night, the Sox were shut down by Jeremy Bonderman. Jose Contreras made a mistake in the second inning and crusied until the sixth inning, then the Tigers would open the floodgates off Contreras to end the Sox winning streak.

The Sox, like last night had a chance to get on the board in the first. Tahahito Iguchi would be left on third base when Frank Thomas and Paul Konerko failed to drive him home. The Tigers would make the Sox suffer for that in the second. With two men on, Omar Infante would send a Contreras offering into the seats in left for a three-run homer to put the Tigers up 3-0.

The third inning the Sox threatend again. Joe Crede singled and Juan Uribe walked. But the next three batters Podsednik, Iguchi, and Thomas would all fly out. The Sox got their lone run in the fifth. A.J. Pierzynski doubled and advanced to third on Joe Crede's ground out. A.J. scored on a RBI ground out by Juan Uribe. Hooray.

Contreras didn't seem to be bothered by the lack of hitting. After the Infante home run, Contreras retired the next twelve Tigers hitters. But, with two outs in the sixth the Tigers tagged Contreras for four runs. Four of the next five hits would be doubles to put the Tigers up 7-1. Bobby Jenks came in to end the sixth inning, and surrendered three straight singles to load the bases in the seventh, but, Jenks would leave the bases loaded in an impressive outing as he got three straight hitters out leaving the score 7-1 Tigers.

There were no late inning comebacks tonight Sox fans. The Sox would go down 1-2-3 the rest of the way after the fifth inning. For those off you keeping score, the Sox got one run off three hits. Talk about domination.

Freddy Garcia will bring his 9-3 record against Nate Robertson tomorrow afternoon at 1:05pm on the South Side. If you can't make it to the game, it will be televised on Comcast SportsNet.

WSI's
