Short Take:  Borchard's first dinger!

The Sox keep rolling, beating the Blue Jays 5-3 in SkyDome.  Jon Garland fell behind early, but Sox bats were there to pick him up--including a first-ever major league hit by $5 million bonus baby, Joe Borchard!

Welcome to the Show, young man!

Garland was a bit rocky early.  A line shot into right field was misplayed into a triple on SkyDome's carpet by the rookie Borchard.  That brought home the go-ahead run for the Jays in the first inning.

No problem!  Under-appreciated catcher Mark "Not Versatile" Johnson drew a leadoff walk to start the third, and D'Angelo Jimenez set up the big inning with a bunt single.  Jose Valentin and Frank Thomas each picked up rbi singles and the Sox were rolling.

The next inning, Joe Borchard made up for his misadventure in the first, and then some, when he tagged one deep, deep, DEEP into center field, scoring Carlos Lee ahead of him.  Now we know why the guy's nickname is "Light Tower Power!"  Later, Jimenez added another rbi single bringing home Aaron Rowand making it 5-1 Sox.  They would run away and hide from there.

Garland was pulled after 102 pitches in the seventh.  He struck out seven while walking one to even his record at 10-10.  Keith Foulke pitched two solid innings in relief.  Damaso Marte had a bit of trouble in the ninth, but got Carlos Delgado to pop out with the tying run in scoring position.

Winning is good.  Very, very good!

WSI's
Tinkerer Update:

Jimenez back, but this time at second base.  Valentin back at shortstop.  Playing the same position every day is overrated, says the Tinkerer.

D'Angelo Jimenez

2 for 4 with a walk, a run scored, and an rbi in the leadoff slot.  Figured prominently in both innings the Sox scored.
