Pre-Game Report

Inside
JERRY'S HEAD

It has been nearly two full years since the White Sox won a game in Oakland.  Tomorrow they get their last chance at it, or the streak will reach a third year, too.  While Sox Fans would welcome a win Sunday in Oakland, most of us would probably welcome euthanasia, too.  A pathetic defeat, 9-2 to the Athletics.

The Sox were never in this game.  Jon Garland was lit from the very start.  He was behind 1-0 after one inning, and never got the third out of the third inning.  The score was 6-0 by the time Garland was soaping up back in the clubhouse.

It just got worse from there.  Rocky Biddle hit a batsmen, threw a wild pitch, and got charged with another run when Manuel brought in another reliever, Mike Porzio, who then threw another wild pitch and let an inherited runner score.

Oh brother, this team sucks.

Jerry "The Tinkerer" Manuel refitted his line up for another left-hander.  The right-heavy Sox crew had no punch.  Who but The Tinkerer is surprised?  Tony Graffanino and Aaron Rowand, the #1 and #2 hitters in the Tinkerer's line up, didn't have a hit between them.  The bottom of the line up (Joe Crede, Royce Clayton, and Josh Paul) were a combined 1 for 9.

Look, could we do any worse just letting the left-handed hitters face a southpaw pitcher?  This is getting ridiculous!

The most interesting part of the game came long after Sox Fans gave up trying to pay attention.  Damaso Marte hit a batsmen, the third one by Sox pitching in the game.  Though warnings were issued, the point was moot.  Sox pitchers simply suck too much to throw with any accuracy.  What's the big mystery?

Still, Art Howe had his reliever plunk Royce Clayton with two out in the ninth.  Wow--that's showing us!  Art Howe wears women's underwear.

Tomorrow we get beat again.  If you're a masochist, be sure to tune in.

WSI's
Tinkerer Update:
The Sox will NEVER beat a left-hander if Manuel keeps fielding this line up!

Pitched an inning and nobody scored.  Hit a batter.  Best aim by Sox pitching all day long.
