Pre-Game Report

What Sox Fans would have done for an effort like this one against the Twins back in June!  Mark Buehrle mows 'em down, Magglio Ordonez delivers the clutch hit, the defense is solid, and another silly little rally by those three-legged mongrels from Minnesota is chopped off, chewed up, and spit out with a game-winning 6-4-3 double-play.  Sox win 3-0.

This wasn't a victory to work out a season's worth of frustration.  However, for long-suffering Sox Fans, it was a decent start.  Mark Buehrle was brilliant.  His complete-game, five-hit effort polished off this game in an unheard of 2 hours and 8 minutes.

What, did the umpires have a plane to catch?

Watching Buehrle buzz saw the Twinkie lineup was sweet, but nothing was sweeter than watching the face of Kyle "Big Top" Lohse after Magglio Ordonez juiced a three-run shot beyond the plastic baggie wall in deep left-centerfield.  This punk has owned us for over a year.  It's about time he got one shoved down his throat.

Joe Crede made his 2002 debut at third base.  He was rocky at the plate (0 for 4 with a K) but solid in the field.  Aaron Rowand was the new #2 hitter, collecting two doubles in four at-bats.  Secondbasemen had one hit and a terrific play in the field.  The kids looked good.

A double and a single to start the ninth inning came to jack--leaving depressed Minnesotans to quietly exit their Baggie Dome and face the nasty specter of fighting the growing swarms of deep woods mosquitoes surrounding their RV's.  Sox Fans say, "See if lighting another citronella candle helps!"

The goofiest dope to ever wear the intertwined "T-C" logo will be going for the Twinkies Wednesday.  Joe "Cy Young" Mays is back again!  Beating this slug would be awfully nice indeed!
