Enquiring Sox Fans want to know!

If only Sox Fans knew...
Last Series vs. Toronto
  • The Sox won 2 of 3 from Toronto last week in Comiskey.
  • The Sox also outscored Toronto, 20-12.
Totally Biased Sox Notes
  • Why is Jim Parque still remotely related to pitching?  Since being called up, the soft-tossing lefty has a record of 1-3, an ERA of 10.67, and a WHIP of 2.09.  Even, worse, if you take away his best outing (his first start, August 8th against Anahiem in which he went 5.1 innings, allowed 5 hits, walked 3, and allowed 2 earned runs), Parque's numbers are (in 9 innings of work over 3 games), an ERA of 15.00, and a WHIP of 2.44.
  • The Sox have been woeful away from Comiskey, amassing a record of 26-41 in road games this year.
  • The Sox have had mixed success against the American League's Eastern Division this year.  They are 12-11 against the AL East so far in 2002.
  • Much was made of the Sox's lack of success in 1-run games this year, and while they are still not very good, the Sox have come on a bit as of late.  Now, they are only 12-19 in contests decided by 1 run.
Know thy Enemy!
  • It should be noted that Corey Thurman's numbers from above are in bullpen duty.  So far, he has yet to make start this year.  Also, Pete Walker's numbers are split between starts and relief appearances.  So far in 2002, when starting, Walker's numbers are (in 15 starts), 81.1 innings, 90 hits, 52 runs (49 earned), 27 walks, 58 strike outs and 12 homers allowed for an ERA of 5.42 and a WHIP of 1.44.  Lastly. Esteban Loiaza's numbers are all in starts this year.
  • The Blue Jays mustn't like home very much... or at least they don't like turf.  They Jays are 36-39 at SkyDome so far, but they are 36-45 in games played on turf.
  • The Blue Jays are having problems keeping guys off the scoreboard.  Their 5.00 team ERA is 5th-from last in the Majors, and the 723 runs they've allowed is 4th-worst in the Majors.
  • The Blue Jays are some smart baserunners.  They have only been caught 15 times (best in the AL), and have stolen an 8th-best 63 bags.
What to watch for!
  • No more labor trouble.  Now we get to watch the Sox play again (damn!)
  • Jim Parque doing his best batting practice pitcher impresonation.
  • Joe Crede and his disgusting hot streak.
