He came to the Sox in trade for franchise icon Luis Aparicio. He played on three consecutive South Side teams to win over 90 games. He got Joe Horlen his last out in the 1967 no-hitter that everyone believed could launch the Sox to World Series glory that season remembered on the South Side today as the Improbable Nightmare.
