Making Sense of a Mess
The 2007 Sox are in free-fall and the season is all but over, but it's never too late to assign blame and point fingers! While others secretly enjoy wallowing in another season of Sox defeat, WSI's George Bova wonders what can be salvaged from the wreckage of a Sox team that we haven't seen for more than two months now.
June 23... Same Story, Different Day
More of the same was seen again this afternoon at U.S. Cellular Field, as the offense was comatose, and the bullpen couldn't hold a tie, but the starting pitching was dominant. The Sox came up one short again, this time 2-1 at the hands of our north side rivals.
June 19...Is it Bears season yet?
The town will never be the same. After the Tangiers the big corporations took it all over. Today it looks like Disneyland and while the kids play cardboard pirates, Mommy and Daddy drop the house payments and Junior's college money on the poker slots. In the old days, dealers knew your name, what you drank, what you played. Today it's like checkin' into an airport.
Decision Time for Sox
The Sox season has unraveled at a sickening pace, and the future direction of the ballclub must soon be decided. Is it a matter of staying the course, making a few minor tweaks, or taking on a major reconstruction project? WSI's Hal Vickery knows the time is drawing near to chart a new course-- and every Sox Fan knows it has come far too quickly!
June 17th...At Least the Pirates’ Fathers Had a Nice Day
If this headline sounds familiar, it should. It’s a recycle of the Mother’s Day headline. I only had to change two words. Efficient or what?
June 16... Our Team Has Been Revived... for Tonight!
For the second time on this interleague roadtrip, the Sox found themselves facing a pitcher they hadn't seen before. Thankfully, the results this time around were different, as the Sox found themselves earning a long overdue 6-1 victory.
June 15...Garrrr, Matey! Sox Walk the Plank in Pittsburgh
Wasn’t this month supposed to be the easy part of the schedule? Apparently someone forgot to tell that to our opponents.
Ozzie Ball on DL!
It could get worse, but did it really have to? A disastrous homestand mercifully ends and now the Sox must hope to get right on the road in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. WSI's Hal Vickery knows the Sox aren't playing Ozzie Ball, but how can they when all the Ozzie Ballers are on the disabled list?
June 10th...WHADDAYA KNOW? ONE IN A ROW!
Mark Buehrle finally gets his 100the win, although it is nearly overshadowed by the increasingly pathetic bullpen, which insisted on conducting its usual seminar on how to make a win seem almost like a loss.
June 9... Groundhog Day... Will It Ever End?
A rematch of the 2005 World Series this clearly was not, as the Sox were embarrassed again offensively- this time at the hands of the below .500 Houston Astros, and lost the game 3-2.
It could be worse...
Looking at the sunny side of things, the Sox still have nearly four full months of baseball left to play. WSI's Hal Vickery is just rational enough to chalk this up as a positive. Suicidal Sox Fans aren't so sure!
June 2... Bullpen Flounders, Surrenders Yet Another Lead for the Sox
The Sox never cease to amaze their fans, as they find new ways to squander leads. Today the blame goes to the bullpen yet again, as the Sox lose 9-3 after being up 3-1 for the majority of the game.
June 1...Owenage
Freshly recalled from Charlotte, Jerry Owens made his presence known, while Javier Vazquez baffled hitters all night long, as the losing streak ended tonight in shutout form! Our Sox got back in the good column with a 3-0 triumph over the Blue Jays at Skydome.
