2001 Review

After the Sox failed to resign Charles Johnson they signed another veteran catcher in Sandy Alomar. The big question with Alomar has always been if he can stay healthy. Alomar has had either 9 or 10 knee operations in his 14 year major league career. Sandy played in just 70 games with the 2001 Sox due to, you guessed it another knee operation. Alomar hit 4 homers with one of them coming against his former team the hated Cleveland Indians.

For 2002, the WSI Wiz predicts...
The Wiz says the Sox will need a major league orthopedic surgeon to keep Sandy in even half the games of 2002.  He can't contribute from the bench and he won't do much when he's at bat either.  The Wiz predicts Sandy will finish reading several best-selling novels while killing time in the trainer's room.
